SHARK ALERT
September 8th, 2008
This is our periodic newsletter to keep you updated. Look for the Shark Alert in your Family Folder and online.
Welcome to the Shark’s 2008 -2009 Short Course Season! We’re looking forward to a great year and to getting to know our new swimmers and parents.
Mandatory Parent Meetings: Skidmore 9/15 and BHBL 9/17, during practice. You may attend either one. Check the website for start times. We will do our best to have the Trick-or-Treat work signup sheets available at the meetings.
Swimposium (Oct. 5th) info is in your folder and online. Deadline is 9/16 for reduced rate.
USA Swimming has postponed our Team Camp, due to scheduling difficulties. We are working with them to reschedule. It will not be held Columbus Day weekend. We’ll post the new dates ASAP, and are still looking forward to this great opportunity!
TEAM FAMILY PICNIC: Sunday, September 21. Look for details and sign-ups soon. Mark your calendar now!
SWIM-A-THON is coming…..most likely 11/23 …...materials will be distributed in the coming weeks!
Blue Books (our parent handbook) are in your folders. Please be sure you get yours. Equipment orders (new items!) and Program Ad info (earn credit toward SSC registration!) are in the inside front cover. Essential reading for new families. Lots of valuable info inside!
Please be mindful of equipment order deadlines. Although some equipment can be ordered throughout the year, personalized caps must be ordered by 9/16. Address any questions to Mark at kmduchesne@msn.com .
Meet Fees: All swimmers in groups 1 thru senior must have $50 in their meet fee account by 9/30. Please address any questions to Patty at prowled@nycap.rr.com .
Schedule of SSC-hosted meets this season: Please mark your calendars!
Trick-or-Treat Meet RPI October 26, 2008
Chris Goody IMX Meet TBA January 3 – 4 or 17 – 18, 2009 (pending pool availability)
Region One Championships RPI February 13 -16, 2009
AD Gold Championships TBA March 20 – 22, 2009 (please note date change)
We are looking for a parent volunteer to take on a new project, which we’re excited about. We’d like to create a new and expanded version of the Shark Alert, to include photos and articles and be published 3-4 times per year. If you have any interest or questions, please contact Carolyn pres@schenectadyswimclub.org
A note about group movement: in order to simplify registration, some swimmers were promoted to the next group before registration forms were mailed. There may be more movement over the next few weeks as the groups settle out after tryouts. Please be patient. Your child will be practicing in the best group for them. If your child is moved to a group with higher registration fees, please contact Helen Bopp registrar@schenectadyswimclub.org to make the adjustment.
REMEMBER: CHECK THE WEBSITE OFTEN FOR UPDATES AND CHANGES! www.schenectadyswimclub.org
